Fables, Big Brother, or Progress?

Perhaps you caught one of many big technology news stories this week. One such story came from the Guardian of the UK: “FBI wants instant access to British identity data: Americans seek international database to carry iris, palm and finger prints

http://www.guardian.co.uk/humanrights/story/0,,2241005,00.html

Or perhaps you may be thinking of any story, such as the one found on Fox News:

Microsoft Systems May Monitor Workers’ Brains, Bodies

Really? You weren’t thinking of that one either? Maybe you were thinking of article from the LA Times regarding a proposed delay in the implementation of the Real ID Act (However, according to the article, “But starting this May, states resisting the law will be penalized: Their driver’s licenses won’t be valid for air travel.”):

Real ID is Postponed for 5 Years

Perhaps with the allegations of vote fraud and recounts in both the Republican and Democratic parties in New Hampshire you were reminded of the documentary “Hacking Democracy“, which can be found on youtube?:

Maybe you were thinking of the new ‘internet filter’ which was announced publicly this week by companies such as AT&T, where they will continually monitor and record all of your internet activities openly:

Micro-chipping prisoners in the UK?:

What about another startling discussion on the federal level in the UK, where a new program is being discussed for organ donations to be assumed until granted permission otherwise?: “Organs to be taken without consent

How about a local California CBS affiliate who was one of many outlets this past week which covered a potential plan for the state government to control the thermostat in Californian homes?:

The list of technological developments and implementations seem to get longer with each week. But do we really pay attention?

Look at these stories, and ask yourself…What do you think about them? Does it really matter if you read them or have an opinion about them? Each may be viewed on its own merits and credentials…

Perhaps you may find yourself asking:

Are these stories fables? Are they simply made-up lies and propaganda to fill news papers with meaningless drivel?

If some or all are indeed true…could they be viewed as part of a ‘Big Brother’ society where the state knows and dictates all to its inhabitants?

Or if some or all are indeed true…are these simply positive steps towards progress in a free global society?

After asking yourself those questions, perhaps you may ask yourself again, “Does this really matter? Is this a waste of time to even be thinking about?”

If you are a Bible-believing Christian, does any of this pertain to prophecy? Could any of this pertain to things we have been told about before? Does the Bible discuss a society where there is a great amount of control against people? Does the Bible discuss global government at all?

What have you found? What does the Bible say, and does it have anything to do with what we are seeing around us today?

What do you think?
