All over the world there is now talk of a new threat to our world: man-made Global Warming. In past writings I have raised the question if it is necessary to understand a problem before it can be solved. (A previous example is terrorism…What causes that? And are we applying our knowledge of that problem so we can correctly apply a solution?) Perhaps this next article might apply in some way to that thought…
Recently, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg voiced what many others have apparently these past few years:

Do you hear many debates and arguments concerning such things as global warming? Perhaps you hear people talking in your workplace…your church….on the radio….or on tv. Maybe you yourself have, currently, or will find yourself in a conversation or debate with others over the subject of man-made global warming or caring for the earth God entrusted to us.
Maybe this is way off base, but…We hear debate over “what we can do to fix the problem we have created”… Well, yes, through history many humans have done some terribly harmful things to the earth. Are these “Christian”…or considered “good” by anyone? Few would probably think there is anything truly good about ruining the earth for some type of short gain, be it commercial or otherwise.
However, back to perhaps an important question: When was the debate over “What causes global warming?” closed? Many popular theories have been produced. In particular, there is one work which has seemed to stand out and garner more attention and support than others: Al Gore’s work and pride (the movie “An Inconvenient Truth”) is possibly the most prominent collection of evidence people use to substantiate the man-made global warming argument.
If this is the case…if we are all partially to blame for current or perhaps future changes which may hurt the earth (and life on it, either in part or whole) as many seem to believe…Are we being sold the truth? Or are we being deceived? (Then in which case: “Why might we be targeted for deception?”) Does it really matter? Or are the results of an effort to combat climate change so helpful that it doesn’t really matter either way?
Because I have touched on similar arguments in the past, I will not continue them in depth yet again here. However, in conjunction with this article (and many others similar in nature):
Do we know what causes global warming? Or do we have theories? Are we making decisions based on feelings or facts? (And does it matter?) Again, is it necessary to find the problem before we look for the solution?
Taking care of the earth sounds like a good idea…Is that really what these proposed ’solutions’ do? Or do they have another purpose? (If so, what are those purposes? What are the main effects of these ’solutions’?
A seemingly increasing number of influential politicians and media personalities are coming out in the media and comparing the dangers of global warming to terrorism. Aren’t those large words? Isn’t Mr. Bloomberg a well respected politician, and doesn’t his publicized thoughts and actions…much like California Governer Arnold Schwarzenegger…don’t they hold some weight? Irregardless if their words are true…What affect (if any) do they have? What place does the media have (or not have) in reporting (or not reporting) these thoughts?
Are we actually finding solutions? Are we receiving good advice from people who have rightly confirmed and/or earned our trust? Or are we swinging like a piñata-pursuing child at a birthday party….swinging blindfolded at a host of things we cannot see….hoping to somehow solve the threat we are told is coming (due to our own actions)….by people who may or may not have a history of being trustworthy? Ar we being shaken to our senses, or shaken down by threat of force or consequence?
Why are these things posted here? As similar things were asked in other articles: Are we improving the standard of living for everyone? Are things getting better and better? Or no matter how hard we are told everyone is trying…somehow overall things are getting worse and worse? Are threats being used as a guise to bring together a forced global society? Are these things the Bible has us watching for? What, if anything, does the Bible say about these things?
