Take a few minutes to shut your eyes. Try to invision life 10 years ago. What do you see? Think about what you were doing…what news and current events were going on…and what life and society were generally like.
Then, open your eyes again. Look around you…drive to the store or mall, talk to friends and family. Turn on the radio, tv, or surf the internet. What do you see? What situation do you find yourself in now? Are there any main differences in comparison? What do you see? And…can you guess at what these next 10 years will bring if even half of the current trends continue? If you had to guess, are things getting better, worse, or staying the same?
…And now this too has been quietly dropped on American doorsteps: periodic food rationing. On both the East and West coasts, various laws and local regulations have for the past few years made limits on how much of certain items people can purchase, such as specific types of food. This has been supposedly done to ‘limit’ food runs and shortages in times of emergency, such as during hurricane season in Florida or various natural disasters in California. Therefore, it does not matter if you can buy the item…if policy or local law says you are not allowed, then…you are not allowed!
And now, a short segment from a story from local KPTM Fox affiliate out of Omaha, Nebraska:
“NY Paper Reports Food Rationing Appearing In US”
http://www.kptm.com/Global/story.asp?S=8202003&nav=menu606_24_8_1
“OMAHA (KPTM) – Food shortages and rationing has been a third-world problem as of late, but recently, the phenomenon once thought unthinkable in the United States could start happening.
The New York Sun newspaper is reporting that major retailers on both coasts are limiting customers’ purchases of flour, rice and cooking oil.
The Sun reports that a Costco Warehouse in California ran out of rice, frustrating shoppers. “Where’s the rice?” an engineer from Palo Alto, Calif., Yajun Liu, said. “You should be able to buy something like rice. This is ridiculous.”
The rice that is left is selling at near one dollar a pound, and in some areas, customers report paying about $30 for a 25-pound bag.”
Admittedly, this is not a national, widespread problem at this time. But with the fight against terrorism….sickness….crime….fight on global climate change and biofuel production…..fight for many companies to legally sell whole sale synthetic foods (beyond what has become ‘normal’ genetically modified crops)….What are we to expect next?
Is this a sign of things to come? Does this show in any way potential societal impacts? What about prophetic impacts? Could this is some way reveal a move toward parts of prophecy, as food and other shortages begin to occur worldwide? Or are these questions simply ‘overthinking’ and blowing everything out of proportion? (And, would you have also thought those things 10 years ago if someone had told you all the new laws and political happenings happening in today’s newspaper?)
What do you think?
